The Comprehension Carnival contains 33 short, interesting stories for students with a broad level of reading abilities. There are three sections - Animal Facts, Interesting Facts and Famous Firsts, and Super Hero STories - which progress from simpler to more challenging vocabulary and comprehension levels. Many of the illustrations are rather interesting. The book is designed to reinforce reading comprehension skills such as locating the main idea, drawing conclusions, making inferences, using contxt clues, and vocabulary development. The stories will also help students prepare for standardized test of reading comprehension. Although written for students in grades 2-4, the stories can also be used with slower readers in higher grade levels. Teachers can use the stories in conjunction with any basic reading text and can make individualized assignments to fit each student's needs and abilities. Individual teachers can reproduce copies for use in the classroom. However, "the reproduction of any part for an entire school or school system or for commercial use is strictly prohibited."
