A Treasury of Amish Quilts is also a history lesson in quilting that shows how the way of life of the Amish influenced their quilt making. The Pellmans feature specific patterns and variations thereof, pointing out distinctive features, unusual practices, and the effect of time and place on the selection of material. A chart showing distinctive features of Amish quilts, comparing the color, fabric, and quilting techniques of various communities, is included. Both books are enjoyable histories of specific areas of quilt making. Recommended for larger collections.
