Benedict received her B.A. degree in geology biology from the University of Colorado: She is the founder and Director of Cloud Ridge Naturalists, a nonprofit educational organization offering field seminars in the natural sciences throughout the West. She has lived in Colorado for nearly 25 years and resides near the northeastern boundary of the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area.
