Information on dyslexia is woven throughout, and Levinson's methods for coping are introduced in an understandable way. However, there are frequent references to "clumsy," "klutzy," or "stupid" individuals. Indeed, each child has a nickname such as "Bob the Fog" or "Hyper Harry." Read alone, readers might be offended. In a group situation, however, these stereotypes could be strong catalysts to lively discussion. The vocabulary is simple, and the ledding adds to the readability. Optimistic and creative, this is a unique book because of its approach. Teachers and parents should be aware, however, that there are other philosophies about the treatment of dyslexia.
