About the Author:

Ellington Darden, Ph.D., a former Baylor athlete, is well qualified to critically analyze the dietary practices and theories that are alleged to improve performance, and has presented sound nutritional advice and recommendations for athletes, coaches and trainers. He has a B.S. in Recreation, Baylor University, 1966; M.S., Physical Education, Baylor University, 1967; Ph.D. Physical Education, Florida State University, 1972; Post-Doctoral Study, Food and Nutrition, Florida State University. In addition to his degrees and study, Dr. Darden has published more than 100 articles on various aspects of physical fitness and nutrition in the nation s leading athletic publications.

Athletes, especially football players, should have the desire to learn about their bodies and what training habits make for optimum performance.
