Taken from Chapter 7: In the Trees Living high in the tress helps protect koalas. The leaves hide them from eagles and owls that swoop down and prey on them. Predators that live on the ground, such as wild dogs, cannot reach the koalas. Trees also shelter koalas from rain and the hot sun. The koala is one of the few arboreal marsupials that do not build a nest. When a koala sleeps, it holds onto a bough or wedges itself between branches so it will not fall.
