About the Author:

Scott C. Esplin earned a BS degree in business administration from Southern Utah University. He later received an MEd and PhD in educational leadership from BYU, focusing his studies on the history of LDS Church academies. Brother Esplin taught for the Church Educational System for nine years and later joined the Religious Education faculty at BYU. Kenneth L. Alford, an Associate Professor of Church History and Doctrine at BYU, earned a doctorate from George Mason University, and master s degrees from the University of Illinois and the USC. He served thirty years in the United States Army, including service at the Pentagon and eight years teaching at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
