The characterizations are especially well drawn, including a nicely done portrait of a modern-day Judas. Very powerful, albeit extremely depressing, McCusker's (Danger Lies Ahead, Focus on the Family, 1995) novel provides a sobering look at the realities of Christian belief in an unaccepting society. A thoughtful and intriguing look at people's need for a belief system.
