From the Publisher:
As a child of missionary parents, Jeanette Windle grew up in the rural towns of Colombia, which are now guerrilla hot zones. Her detailed research and writing is so realistic that it has prompted government agencies to question her to determine if she has received classified information. Jeanette spent fifteen years as a missionary in Bolivia and has more than ten books in print, including The DMZ, the best-selling CrossFire, and the Parker Twins series. Jeanette and her family currently reside in Miami, Fla.
From the Author:
My original motivation for FireStorm was my readers, who during three years and several books, demanded a sequel to CrossFire, my first political/suspense novel set in the counternarcotics war I witnessed firsthand during 15 years in Bolivia. As I returned to the Latin American political arena I had come to know so well, disturbing questions arose in my research. What is the relationship of Latin American drug trafficking and guerrilla warfare to Islamic terrorist networks? What threat does the epidemic of drug-dealing, corruption, and terrorism in Latin America pose to U. S. national security?

I set myself to craft an answer to those questions with no more than the resources available to me as a well-informed civilian and what meticulous research revealed as available to our enemies. The result was a scenario so frighteningly plausible military and State Department advance readers have passed it on to their own superiors. And yet the underlying theme of FireStorm is not one of fear or doom-saying, but of hope and challenge: 'Our safety is not--and never has been--the absence of the storm, but the presence of God'. 'God's children are not called to safety but to stand strong in the midst of the storm'.
