Gr 4-8-Foley presents the basics of ice hockey. Jensen has adapted his text for a slightly younger audience, and her book has a different cover photo and larger typeface. However, the layout, photographs, and content are virtually identical. A brief history of the sport is followed by an explanation of what players do during hockey practice and what occurs during a game. Finally, readers see some of the drills and variations of the game, such as broomball and sledge hockey, which is played by players with lower-body disabilities. A substantial glossary and list of places to write for more information are appended. While the writing style in both books is rather pedestrian, the information provided is solid, and the numerous full-color photos and diagrams are helpful. Since these two titles are so similar, consider one or the other for purchase unless the demand for hockey books is great. Bill Gutman's Ice Hockey (Marshall Cavendish, 1990) offers similar information in a less attractive format. Tom S. Hurlburt, La Crosse Public Library, WI
