ea. vol: 64p. charts. illus. maps. photogs. reprods. index. (Visual Geography Series). Lerner. CIP. 1988. PLB $9.95. Grade 5-6 Utilitarian nonfiction. The writing is adequate to inform but not to excite; the photographs illustrate, but only just. The black-and-white photographs are not crisp or clear, and those in color are flat. Some photographs are used more than oncethe capybara in Paraguay is the same one as in Brazil . These books will be useful for reports, but they won't engender further interest or create a sense of wonder about these countries. Although not much is available about Paraguay besides encyclopedia articles or short chapters in books such as South America (Watts, 1983) by William E. Carter, many books are available on Argentina; e.g., Argentina (Childrens, 1985) by Martin Hintz and Take a Trip to Argentina (Watts, 1986) by Keith Lye. Despite their limitations, both of these series titles will be useful for the broad scope of history and geography covered, especially recent political events. Frances E.
