Grade 4-6-- Here's a glimpse of the life of the Baltimore Oriole's star shortstop. Thornley spends a considerable amount of time looking at Ripken's youth in his baseball family: his father played, coached, and managed professionally in the Orioles organization, and his brother is currently a teammate. He follows the young athlete through his high school and minor and major league careers, with some mention of his off-field activities.
