From School Library Journal:
YA?A small, comprehensive resource. The colorful, detailed maps have clear legends, show geographical influences on battles, and illustrate the progression of troop holdings and movements. However, details of American troops can be hard to read as the black print is on royal blue squares. As so many of the particulars are shown on the maps, one might be tempted not to read the accompanying text that provides necessary background, many more specifics, and information on the military leaders. Accompanying black-and-white period photographs heighten interest. Unfortunately, the index is of limited use as entries are by the broad subject areas and cross references are listed for only the most important battles.?Claudia Moore, W.T.
