Herbert J. Ellison is professor of Russian history in the History Department and the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies of the University of Washington. He is the author of History of Russia, and editor and contributor to Sino-Soviet Conflict in Global Perspective, Soviet Policy toward Western Europe, and Japan and the Pacific Quadrille.
