From School Library Journal:
Grade 2-4-Third-grader Robert Dorfman is a likable kid who meets challenges with courage, ingenuity, and perseverance. In this enjoyable installment in the series, he confronts his fear of heights and of the unknown when he goes on a skiing vacation with his friend Paul's family. The boys also band together to convince Paul's parents not to move away. And when they return to school after their long weekend, Robert must use all of his resources to find the missing class pet, Sally the snake. With age-appropriate humor, short sentences, and straightforward plotting, Seuling hits just the right notes for early chapter-book readers. The quirky black-and-white drawings are nicely spaced to keep the book from appearing too daunting, and they add an offbeat goofiness that complements the story.

From Booklist:
Gr. 2-4. In the latest addition to this popular series, Robert is invited to go with best friend Paul and his parents on a ski trip to Vermont. When it seems that Paul's family may move there, the boys take issue. Then, school resumes after vacation, and Robert is shocked to find out that the class snake, which he is in charge of, is missing. A mini-mystery ensues. The plot meanders, but Robert and his friends are appealing protagonists. Readers familiar with Robert's adventures will want this, and the series will fill the bill for children just past the beginning chapter-book stage. Brewer's cartoon-style illustrations add a slight edge to rather predictable events. Ilene Cooper
