Grade 6-10-- This attempt to capture a decade is destroyed by its scattershot approach. In a newspaper format, 12 to 15 brief articles, most of them no more than a few sentences long, give the major world events for the year in question. The final product is unfortunately incohesive and disjointed, the events seeming to be completely unconnected. However, it could be used in journalism classes or for introducing some of the tenets of journalism to upper elementary students as it clearly shows how to pack a lot of information in a sentence and how to write a lead or a headline. Probably more useful in the classroom than in the library, the overview here is just a bit too broad.
