Rankin provides some fairly sophisticated design projects without all the fuss of complicated sewing, interfacing, lining, and the like. Relying on sturdy, easy-to-use materials such as cotton, felt, and terry cloth, each of the more than 50 stitching ideas includes color photographs, a list of materials, simple directions (which require familiarity with a sewing machine), and, when appropriate, templates to follow. Among the brightly colored sew-worthy ideas are a dog-shaped pencil case, a bike organizer, a chessboard and dice bag, and a lunch bag.
