About the Author:

The author, James Duffield Collins, born in 1919 in Logansport, Indiana, and now a resident of Carmel, Indiana, has distinguished himself in the fields of engineering, research, invention, writing, and music. A child violinist of unusual prowess, he has followed music as an avocation throughout the years paralleling his professional vocation as a research and development engineer. Mr. Collins was educated in several universities and is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, from which he holds a bachelor of science degree. He holds several patents for his inventions. His many accolades include a listing in 2000 Outstanding Scientists of the Twentieth Century and Outstanding People of the Twentieth Century. Recently, the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, England, selected him as one of IBC’s top scientists of 2005.
