From School Library Journal:
Grade 5-7 Norby is an engaging barrel-shaped robot with a variety of unusual talents, including the ability to time travel. In this fifth adventure, the robot and his friend Space Cadet Jeff Wells are at a museum that owns a replica of Marie Antoinette's diamond necklace when they are drawn back to the era of the French Revolution. Meanwhile, the original necklace also vanishes in time and space. They discover that the replica is a faulty alien time travel device and that the disappearance of the original has disrupted history by preventing the French Revolution. To restore normal history, Jeff and Norby must search the past and the future to retrieve the original necklace and deactivate the alien device. While it can be a bit difficult to keep up with the time hopping, and it's hard to keep track of the necklaces, the historical and science fiction elements blend well. Jeff's meeting with Ben Franklin at the French court is an unusual highlight in this science fiction romp for Norby fans and new acquaintances. Elaine E. Knight, Lincoln Elem . Schools, Ill.
