Terence Waddington Love, of Boston, is sent to New Mexico to find out why his uncle's ranch has been losing money. With incredible speed, Terence, a greenhorn, acquires skills and knowledge that enable him to do this job. Too good to be true, he becomes respected, admired, a real man in the eyes of the townsfolk and ranchers, but not in the eyes of the reader. The author's first novel is not much of a success. Characters are unconvincing, and the action--even gun battles--is slowed down by verbiage. Western buffs will no doubt be bored.
