A thorough introductory text on human form and function, this text presents a large, complex body of scientific knowledge in an easily understood, conversational writing style. Focusing on concepts rather than descriptions, the text uses a "big picture" theme of body function and also explains the body's homeostatic regulation. For the first time, every new textbook includes a downloadable e-book, which is a fully searchable, electronic version of the text plus learning resources from Anatomy & Physiology Online - with animations by body system, images, an electronic coloring book, interactive exercises, and more.

About the Author:
Gary A. Thibodeau, PhD
A teacher for more than 30 years, Mr. Thibodeau is considered a pioneer in
introducing collaborative learning strategies to the teaching of anatomy &
physiology. He encourages active interaction with students, and uses a wide
variety of teaching methodologies -- a style he also incorporates into this
textbook. He promotes learning that is student-centered, with an
easy-to-understand text backed by outstanding teaching support. Over the
years, Mr. Thibodeau has won many teaching awards. But it was as a student
earning master's degrees in both zoology and pharmacology, as well as a PhD
in physiology, that he became "fascinated by the connectedness of the life
sciences." That fascination has led to this textbook's approach of fitting
each concept into the "Big Picture" of the human body. Mr. Thibodeau is
Chancellor Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Biology at the University of
Wisconsin-River Falls in River Falls, Wisconsin.
