From School Library Journal:
Grade 7-9-Students will find a wealth of information here for reports and personal interest. Balcavage begins with some of the FBI's most famous cases and ends with crime-detection tools and tricks. The history of the agency and its responsibilities are compressed in the middle sections. Not all of the terms used are explained in the text or the glossary. Lutz's book is rich in fact and anecdote. Students may be surprised to learn that Lincoln, a conservative, initially had doubts about the new Republican party and felt that it might be too radical. From a detailed description of the party's origins, Lutz rushes through topics such as Truman's presidency, the Watergate scandal, and Nixon's resignation. Arthur Schlesinger's thoughtful introduction to each book on the role of government could be the basis of an entire history class. Average fare, where needed.
