Gr 6 Up-The story of two very ordinary women who have made extraordinary lives for themselves as advice columnists. From their childhoods through adolescent angst, to their marriages, children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, the lives of the twins are chronicled in light, lively prose. Excerpts from their columns provide examples of the "wise, witty" nature of the advice proffered. The well-publicized feud between these competing journalists is explained and serves to make them both seem more human. Their ability to remain current and popular while having to rethink and review their ideas on moral, ethical, and social issues justifies their inclusion in this series. The twins are introduced by their real names and referred to by their nicknames as well as their pen names, which becomes confusing at times. Numerous black-and-white photographs depict the sisters from childhood to mature adulthood. The book will serve as good recreational reading or for reports, though rock stars, actors, and talk-show hosts would probably all rate above Abby and Ann.-Marilyn Fairbanks, Azure IRC, Brockton High School, MA
