He concludes with a description of the influx of immigrants after 1965 and a look at Koreatown in Los Angeles, up through the riots of 1992. The inviting open format is broken up with numerous black-and-white photos. Some of the information overlaps that covered in Brian Lehrer's The Korean Americans (Chelsea, 1988); the strength of Takaki's account is the compelling personal narratives.
