Award-winning director, producer, and writer HENRY SELICK created MOONGIRL as a short animated film project for Laika Entertainment, in Portland, Oregon. He describes MOONGIRL as a "modern lunar myth, one which reminds us that a jar of lightning bugs can have powerful magic." A graduate of world-famous CalArts, Selick went on to direct acclaimed animated films, including THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS and JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH. He is currently directing the feature-length adaptation of Neil Gaiman's best-selling children's book, CORALINE, for LAIKA Entertainment.
Peter Chan has worked as a conceptual illustrator and storyboard artist on commercials, innovative platform games, and films since 1989. His film credits include ANTZ, STAR WARS: EPISODE 1 - THE PHANTOM MENACE, HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE, and LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS. About MOONGIRL, he says, "Collaborating with Henry Selick was a great opportunity. Creating the visuals for the film and book was thoroughly enjoyable because this story has such heart and imagination."
Courtney Booker is an artist and animator who divides her time between painting and animation work on films and commercials. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries around the United States. She has also directed several award-winning animated music videos for the group They Might Be Giants. After graduating with a Batchelor of Fine Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon, she moved into animation, working on films including THE INCREDIBLES, FINDING NEMO, and CARS for Pixar. She began working with Laika Entertainment in 1994, creating color design for MOONGIRL.
