About the Author:

JUDITH CHERNAIK is the founder of London’s popular Poems on the Underground. In 2002, she was named an Honorary Officer of the British Empire for services to literature.

SATOSHI KITAMURA was born in Tokyo and moved to London in 1979. He has illustrated many picture books, including ANGRY ARTHUR by Hiawyn Oram, which won the Mother Goose Award.

CAMILLE SAINT-SAËNS (1835-1921) was born in Paris and learned to read and play the piano when he was two years old. CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS was written in 1886. Although the piece is very popular today, Saint-Saëns forbade complete performances of it during his lifetime, allowing only one section, "The Swan," for cello and piano, to be performed.
