From School Library Journal:
Grade 1-5?This unique book presents 20 crafts inspired by traditional European fairy tales. Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Puss in Boots, and Little Red Riding Hood are among the tales that form the basis for these creative and inventive activities. From a simple talking bear, to a versatile story box theater, to a complex mobile, each project results in a clever toy or storytelling device. Common materials are transformed into engaging and sometimes movable props appropriate for professional storytellers as well as for children. The occasional special materials required are easily found at craft stores. Short plot summaries accompany attractive pen-and-gouache illustrations that depict the primary characters. Instructions are clearly written, nicely illustrated, and surrounded by whimsical borders. There are no patterns provided. While the book can easily be used for its crafts alone, it will have a greater impact when used with the tales themselves. A fun and useful resource.?Paula A. Kiely, Milwaukee Public Library, WI
