Synopsis

This book tells five familiar Bible stories in colorful illustrations and simple text. Die-cut pages encourage the child to turn the page to read the rest of the Bible story, thereby keeping the child actively involved in reading and listening. Bright, colorful, and charming illustrations immediately capture the young childs attention. Simple, playful words tell the story. Then the child is encouraged to turn the page that is die-sut into a shape to correspond with the illustration. The child builds reading skills by anticipating a conclusion to the story. Dramatic sound words, such as BOOM and ZAP are included to help to tell the story. The stories are told in two spreads that are separated by the die-cut pages. The first sets up the story and shows the outside of the scene or featured object. The second spread shows the inside of the scene or object. This feature encourages the childs development of cognitive learning, spatial understanding, and imagination. The stories included are Noahs Ark Moses and the Pharaoh Daniel and the Lions Jonah and the Big Fish Baby Jesus in the Manger

About the Author:

Gwen Ellis is the owner of Seaside Creative Services, an editorial and writing service. She is a speaker and the author of more than 13 books including the best-selling Read and Share Bible and a full line of Read and Share products. Gwen lives in California near her two adult children (also writer/editors), a wonderful daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. After graduating from Cornwall School of Art & Design in 1982, illustrator Steve Cox went to work for a design firm, creating a variety of licensed characters, in particular those for Roland Rat, a British television series. In 1987 he established Primary Design, which quickly became the approved studio for the illustration and design of many well-known TV characters. After about five years, however, despite his success, he decided that the drawing board was more satisfying than running a company, and he returned to full-time illustration. Steve lives in Bath, England.
