Under normal circumstances, bohemian, skint Izzie Stock would never have met Maddy Hoare, a Gucci-clad, Beemer-driving urbanite. Their backgrounds and values appear to be a million miles apart. Then, due to their respective husbands' careers, both women are dumped into the English countryside, fish out of water with five young children between them. They are thrown together at a ghastly ladies' lunch and quickly find they have two things in common - an absolute hatred for the petty-mindedness of their neighbours and a longing for the mucky London streets and residents' parking permits they've left behind. When tragedy hits and Maddy's world collapses, the two women decide it's time to shake things up. A chance discovery of Maddy's leads to the launch of a natural cosmetics company from Maddy's kitchen. The friends' subsequent success has implications far beyond their wildest imaginings...

About the Author:
Annie Ashworth and Meg Sanders are television and print journalists who have written nine non-fiction books together while managing to remain the best of friends. Both in their thirties with young children, they live in Stratford-upon-Avon.
From Publishers Weekly:
In rural Ringford, England, the smalltown snobbery of the "Mercedes Mums" sets the standard, but two London transplants, Maddy Hoare, a prickly, wealthy housewife, and Izzie Stock, a free-spirited, lovably disorganized freelancer, realize they share a maverick sensibility. When Maddy discovers a recipe for healing balm in an old family journal, what begins as an experiment becomes a lucrative, trend-setting enterprise she and Izzie run together, as women all over England buy Paysage Enchanté. Despite their increasingly public lives, neither Maddy nor Izzie can escape the everyday—Izzie's marriage is struggling, and Maddy, who is newly widowed, must figure out how to handle her affectionate French cousin, Jean Luc. Plus, both women have young children. To add to their troubles, Pru, their PR adviser, insists that they stick to an "earth-mother" image—the polar opposite of their urban style. A warm, genuine friendship—along with a successful cosmetics line—develops in this refreshing debut, a pseudonymous collaboration from Annie Ashworth and Meg Sanders. (May)
