From Booklist:
“Do you dream of growing taller?” begins the text of this child-centered charmer of a British picture book. The pages that follow offer sound recommendations, such as eat “vegetables in all sorts of colours,” choose outdoor clothes appropriate for the weather, be active but take care sometimes (a girl pictured on her tricycle wears a helmet), and get plenty of sleep. Advice that might sound tiresome coming from a parent seems helpful and sensible here, perhaps because there’s a reason to follow it. After all, nearly every toddler and preschooler wants to be a bit taller and more independent. Tapping into those desires, the simple, colorful artwork uses broad, crayonlike lines to portray a variety of capable children in action. The book’s added feature, an illustrated height chart (in inches and centimeters) tucked into a removable cellophane-like envelope in the back cover, can be discarded or given a sturdier pocket to withstand library circulation.
