Dust Jacket Condition: New. Unstated first edition, first printing with a number line that starts at "1". 7-1/4" tall, 156 pages; lightly flecked and slightly textured whitish boards, with matching quarter binding, electric red lettering on spine, a 1-1/8" tall Christmas tree is blind stamped in the middle of the front board; plain ivory end pages; fore edge not trimmed. Book is square, binding tight, contents clean and unmarked. Jacket has slight shelf wear but otherwise clean. In all respects, virtually like new. No other discernible or objectionable faults on book or jacket such as marks or writing within, stains, tears, chips, or other damage that would diminish its appearance. No remainder mark, no previous owner markings or inscriptions, not price clipped (publisher's original price "U. S. $20.00" on front flap), not a book club edition, not a former library book. Signed ("J. Carter") by author, humanitarian & former President Jimmy Carter with black ball point pen on the title page beneath his printed name and the illustrator's name (Amy Carter); done in my presence at Left Bank Books in the Central West End of Saint Louis, Missouri on December 10, 2001, a signing only, no talk prior. The signing was supposed to start at 7:00 but because of the large size of crowd waiting in near-freezing temperatures, Carter cut his dinner short and started signing at about 6:40 (a true democrat!). I was approximately #200 in a line of 350 when he arrived--and he signed my book at almost precisely 7:15!. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # BMR-2022-6-4-3
