"The show itself is entertaining, and there is a lot of exploration of modern masculinity. What does it mean to "be a man" in a town where the local mill has closed down and most of the men are unemployed while their wives are moving forward in their careers and are "bringing home the bacon"? Because the show is primarily focused on the 6 men who put on the strip show, the women in the show are much less developed. Georgie and Vicky both exist merely to provide a love story and to support and propel their men to a place where they can regain their self-esteem and follow through on their commitment to the strip show. Pam, Jerry's ex-wife, is even less developed and exists merely as an obstacle in his relationship with his beloved son, Nathan. Jeanette, the role I played, is a great comic character but gets very little development. She comes on, steals a scene, and then leaves or fades into the background. But among the men, there is a great deal of character development and exploration of their roles, friendships and relationships, and their thoughts about themselves and their bodies."
