About the Author:

Christine Maxa is a national and international award-winning freelance writer. She has authored three books on Arizona hiking: Autumn Color in Arizona: 50 Great Hikes, Arizona's Best Wildflower Hikes-The Desert, and Arizona's Best Wildflower Hikes-The High Country. She has been featured on National Public Radio and has written for numerous publications, including Arizona Highways, Backpacker Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, and Southwest Art.

Maxa wrote the “Hike of the Week” column for the daily Arizona Republic for more than two years and is on the advisory committee for the Arizona State Committee on Trails.

She currently writes a hiking column for Arizona Living magazine and serves as executive assistant of the advisory committee for the Arizona State Committee on Trails. Maxa resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
