About the Author:

Gordon S Wakefield served for over fifty years as a Methodist minister. He was successively Connexional Editor (1963-1972), responsible for the Epworth Press, Chairman of the Manchester and Stockport District (1971-1979) and Principal of the ecumenical Queen's College, Birmingham (1979-1987). He was the first Methodist to be awarded a Larnbeth DD. His previous works include: Puritan Devotion; Methodist Devotion; Kindly Light; The Liturgy of St John and Bunyan the Christian. He died on 11 September 2000.
