Environment and Services gives an introduction to the technical aspects of building design and construction in the fields of physical environment and services installation. It covers, briefly, the principles involved, materials and equipment where these are relevant, and design methods and applications. References to more detailed and advanced reading in the various aspects covered are quoted in the text.
In addition to giving an introduction to principles, the technical data and estimation methods which are included, mean that the book can be used in connection with appropriate exercises and technical applications forming essential parts of a number of courses in Building Design and Technology.
Some of the examinations for which the book could be used as a first basic text are: RIBA examinations in Environmental Science, Services Engineering and Design Technology, and for the TEC Certificates and Higher Diplomas in Building.
