Published here by Hippocrene, this is another in the British Batsford travel series. It is essentially a guidebook written as a rather chatty narrative of a luxury boat cruise on the Nile from Cairo to Aswan, and then on to Abu Simbel near the Sudan border. A fair amount of history and lore is woven into the text, and the 60-plus photos are well chosen. There are several short appendixes, including a glossary of Arabic words. A standard travel guide, e.g., Fodor, will provide more practical information for less money, but for description and photos this work may be a good choice for public libraries.
