This book describes the Arctic climate, geography, and biology, then discusses in detail the ways in which plants, insects, birds, and mammals have adapted to and exploited the region. Several of the important chapters were contributed by Canadian Arctic experts. The book contains many lovely color and black-and-white photographs of Arctic landscape and wildlife, though much of the expansiveness of the Arctic is lost due to the small size of the photographs.
