This volume captures the rich textures and subtle beauty of the Kansas landscape. One hundred full-color photographs explore the diversity of the terrain, from the red, brown, and gold mosaid of the Gypsum Hills to the drama of a prairie storm. In her introduction, Zula Bennington Greene (columnist Peggy of the Flint Hills), writes not only of the state's evolution and heritage, but also of her love for Kansas.

About the Author:
Andrea Glenn was editor of the popular Kansas! magazine for twenty-two years. She received a B.S. in journalism from Kansas State University in 1973 and worked in advertising before joining the staff of the Kansas Department of Economic Development (now Department of Commerce and Housing) in Topeka. She was a member of the Regional Publishers Association, was actively involved with the Topeka chapters of Women in Communication and Kansas Press Women, and served on numerous community boards. As the creative force behind Kansas! magazine, she selected and published the work of countless writers and photographers throughout Kansas and beyond. Zula Bennington Greene was known to thousands of loyal readers in Kansas as newspaper columnist Peggy of the Flint Hills. Beginning in 1933, her column appeared six days a week in the Topeka Capital-Journal. Over the course of fifty years she commented on nearly every aspect of the Kansas scene, and the warmth and vitality of her writing bespeak her love for the state and its people. She was twice named Outstanding Kansas Woman Journalist by Theta Sigma Phi (now Women in Communication). Also an accomplished actress, she appeared in both theater and television productions.
