Grade 2-3-Although X-Men are admittedly popular TV characters and science fiction for this age group is in short supply, this selection falls short. While supposedly intended for beginning readers, the story features Jubilee, a teenage mutant who finds herself in a succession of violent, difficult to follow episodes before she decides to join the X-Men and put her powers to positive use. Even the colorful pictures do little to redeem this pedestrian offering.
