Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, or Windows Me, is more than the software that makes your computer look and act the way that it does: it's your ticket to fun and productivity.
Teach Yourself Microsoft Windows Me in 24 Hours provides all of the background information that you need on running programs, connecting to the Internet, communicating with friends, and enjoying multimedia. In addition, it gives clear and well-thought-out instructions for executing the tasks that you'll have to know how to do. You'll be happy with this book if you've used computers a little bit before, but haven't connected to the Internet, or haven't used either Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98.
Each chapter deals with a particular set of details about using Windows Me, introducing first each capability, and presenting then a brief series of steps for readers to follow. It's the "learn-by-doing" approach, and it works well for Windows Me. Each chapter concludes with a question-and-answer section that further engages the reader. Oddly, the book makes no mention of establishing an Internet connection. That must be up to you and your service provider's support desk. --David Wall
