Elizabeth Jolley is the author of twenty-three books, including Miss Peabody's Inheritance, The Sugar Mother, and The Well. Celebrated as one of Australia’s major writers, she also an Order of Australia for services to Australian literature and was awarded honorary doctorates from four universities.
