Preface This story is about family. I won’t say it’s about abuse, sexual, emotional, verbal, and physical or psychological. I won’t say it’s about mental or psychological illnesses because these are always a given in families. As much as we try to avoid the topics, these are the facts. Too many times our women have found themselves in the position of fighting for their lives and the survival of their families. We want to keep our children safe, maybe even keep our family together, But this is not always possible because our men want something else whether they are culpable or not. So this story is about family. The heroine’s name is Maggie. A mother, daughter, sister, friend and even a lover, all of the above, her husband is Mark, their son Mark Jr. and daughter Megan. This is about her survival and the survival of her children. It’s about her trying to get away from a man, wanting to put an end to him and not having the courage. It’s about finding true love, cheating yet having no qualms about it, because she felt that she too, deserved to be happy. It’s about our rights as human beings to be free, to love and be loved and last but not least, about the need to speak out and speak up... Because not every story ends like Maggie’s, some are never even told. Sonia Valencia Singh Author
