As a young mother, Mary Potter lived through and survived the effects of anorexia and severe depression with the support of her husband, her faith, her family, and friends. In the midst of the worst of her illness she began to heal, using her art and gift for words to express her anger, grief, and hope. Twenty-five years later, Mary revisits this time in her life in a series of conversations with personal historian Marjorie Turner Hollman. In the interviews, Mary reflects on each poem and drawing she created when she was ill. Her book offers a glimpse into her world in the years since she began to recover from anorexia. Poems and drawings are paired with her words of reflection, inviting the reader to share as Mary has traveled from anorexia to life.

Mary Ellen Potter has raised four children, and lives with her husband in Massachusetts. She rejoices in each day. She has lived through and survived severe depression and anorexia and looks to her faith in Christ for strength for each day.
