The anti-instruction manual — because there are no rules for bad behavior!

Children are natural masters of anarchy, but are too often unaware of the power they wield in their cute little hands, and too seldom encouraged by grown-ups to figure that out. In "A Rule Is To Break: A Child's Guide To Anarchy" that determined little devil girl Wild Child wages her own one-girl rebellion against the stifling world of adults who just want her to behave! And she brings her friends along!

Prepare for the upcoming Toddler Rebellion with Wild Child as your guide!

Praise for "A Rule Is To Break: A Child's Guide To Anarchy" -

"I love this book -- my children's new favorite. 'A Rule Is To Break' says: go ahead and throw your best self a party! So glad it exists." - Kristin Hersh / musician (Throwing Muses), author ('Rat Girl' and 'Toby Snax'), co-founder of CASH Music, and mom.

"How much do I love this idea and its execution? A lot, I tell you." - Julie Danielson / Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast

"... A delight to read! A children's book on anarchy seems somehow just right: an instinctive, intuitive sense of fairness, community, and interdependence sits naturally enough with a desire for participatory democracy, feminism, queer-rights, environmental balance, self-determination, and peace and global justice." - Bill Ayers / author ('To Teach: The Journey in Comics' and 'Fugitive Days'), teacher, Barack Obama’s alleged terrorist pal, and grandpa.

About the Author:
John and Jana are no strangers to the world of children’s books. Together they have published one book on family travel — 'Four Go Mad in Massachusetts' (Commonwealth Editions) — and two picture books — 'Happy Sad Silly Mad: My World Makes Me Feel' (Andrews McMeel) and 'The Ocean Story' (Picture Window Books). As a children’s book illustrator, jana has worked on books from Harper Collins, Simon and Schuster, and Penguin. Her work has also appeared in Highlights, Highlights High Five and Babybug Magazine. Together, John and Jana hit self-publishing heaven in the 1990s with fondly-remembered cocktail comic book 'Very Vicky.' By day, John is the arts and entertainment editor at the North Adams Transcript. They live in North Adams, Massachusetts.
Review:
"This is the softer side of anarchy, with an emphasis on fun and independence, but also community and kindness. Seven and Christy's heroine wouldn't look out of place in a Peter H. Reynolds story, and their message isn't far from his work either--it's just been cranked up to 11." - Publishers Weekly

"A perfectly wonderful picture book about the spirit of anarchism and its utterly fitting dovetail with the joy of childhood. The book is full of excellent advice, wonderfully illustrated." - Cory Doctorow, Boing Boing

"We understand that it's going to be annoying if your kid takes the book to heart and starts scribbling on your plasma screen, but we feel as if any lessons learned about seeing yourself as a bold, bright individual are probably worth the risk. Though some might try to make it otherwise, we would like to think that's a message that transcends politics." - New York Daily News
