When a boy misbehaves on a class trip and trades places with a chimp at the zoo, his teacher doesn't notice--except that the "boy's" behavior as they tour other sights is outrageously silly and wild. What would happen on a class trip if the worst-behaved boy in the class accidentally traded places with the chimp at the zoo? As the class continues on their trip around town, the chimp's behavior as a "boy" becomes increasingly hilarious. The stern teacher doesn't realize the switch, but she gets fed up with the misbehavior and antics. Children will laugh aloud as the chimp wreaks havoc at a grocery store, a restaurant, and the fire station. Meanwhile, back at the zoo, the boy is having a very different day!

About the Author:
RICHARD JESSE WATSON is the acclaimed illustrator of numerous award-winning picture books for children, including Tom Thumb, winner of the SCBWI Golden Kite Award. He lives in Washington State with his wife and children.
From School Library Journal:
Kindergarten-Grade 2—Benjamin has a problem with listening, particularly to his teacher at Alcatraz Elementary School. During a field trip around the community, he wanders into the ape cage at the zoo. A chimp takes Benjamin's jacket, hat, and backpack and leaves the boy inside, locking the door behind him, and Mrs. Thunderbum tells "Benjamin" to get on the bus. At the bank, the animal swings on the chandelier. Then he becomes the hero of the day when he foils a bank robber by coming down on the man's head. The teacher is presented as a negative stereotype: stuffy, severe, and always yelling at Benjamin to STOP what he is doing. The fact that readers know more than she does will amuse children. The terrific illustrations are lively and full of humor, splashing across the pages with irregular lines and blasts of color framing them. A story about silliness and animal antics.—Mary Hazelton, Elementary Schools in Warren & Waldoboro, ME
