From Library Journal:
Offered the chance to buy secrets from certain Chinese officials wishing to raise venture capital, the CIA's Hong Kong station chief, Ella Nidech, thrills to the opportunities now open to a well-trained, ambitious intelligence agent. Her elaborate plan of operation almost fails, however, when a James Bond-type villain kidnaps a man central to its success. Needless to say, Nidech mounts an immediate offensive that results in adventure and violencecomplete with private islands, deadly kung fu, and fighter helicopters. Author Hoyt ( Trotsky's Run ) assembles appropriate espionage elements here, but he fumbles them together and adds unsatisfactory bits of romance, caricature, and vulgarity. Marionette characters chirrup and jerk throughout the fragmented plot. A no suspense and no finesse effort for die-hard Hoyt fans only. Rex E. Klett, Anson Cty. Lib., Wadesboro, N.C.
