Coverage of the events ranges from archery to wrestling, and the book includes sidebars of fast facts, plus information on the rules, equipment, and techniques for each discipline. Legendary athletes such as Babe Didrikson, Jim Thorpe, Paavo Nurmi, Jesse Owens, and Kip Keino are profiled. Lists of suggested reading, gold-medal winners and times for selected sports, and cities that have hosted summer games are appended. A good assortment of full-color and archival black-and-white photos elucidates the text. With the plethora of books to choose from on the topic, this title is a worthy one.
