Grade 6-8 Aviation law has had nearly a century's-worth of claims and precedents to define it; space law, on the other hand, is still largely a matter of speculation and argument. Consequently, rather than discussing specific cases or problems, Apfel focuses on general issues, as well as spending plenty of time on backgroundthe nature and history of law, the physical universe, and space travel. He describes five weak international treaties that form the first tentative stirrings toward a legal foundation, then glances at the questions of ownership and national sovereignty that military-industrial developments are likely to raise. Most of the black-and-white photos are to the point, and a list of relevant articles from various legal and science journals is appended.
