Sword of MacLeod is a futuristic that will have you pouring over its pages to find out whether or not Raven and Beckett stay together. Its background of space stations, unknown planets, and privateer hideouts keeps you tied to the story until you are sure everything will work out well for two of the most dynamic characters to ever grace the stars. Ciorstan said she knew where the Sword of MacLeod was and would find it. Her father, Beckett MacLeod, would only venture off his beloved world of Alba for one reason -- to retrieve her. His is a simple world, one without technology and space science. However, the very things his Scottish ancestors had run away from would be the only way he would find her. Beckett needed a tracker and not just any tracker would do. He had to have the best, and Raven was the best. Upon meeting her, however, Beckett knew that there was more to this small, explosive female than her snug clothing revealed. Raven, on the other hand, was equally impressed by the big, beautiful Scotsman. In fact, she readily admitted that he was the most perfect man she had ever seen. This was business, however. She didn't really like the idea of looking for some kid, but the gold Beckett had shown her was enough to fix her ship, the TrackStar. It was badly in need of repair and the job couldn't be that hard. The job wasn't that hard, until Raven finds out that Beckett's daughter is in the hands of Slade, a privateer that Raven's previous acquaintance with was hardly pleasant. Beckett learns of Raven's past ties to the privateers and feels that she betrays him for his gold. It isn't until they are fleeing the privateer's planet in a worn-out TrackStar that Beckett realizes that Raven is frightened of a confrontation with Slade. Together, Beckett and Raven head to a newly discovered planet and begin their quest to find Ciorstan and Slade. It only takes one night of passion to build a wall of doubts in Raven's mind. She knows they both come from different worlds; their passion for each other will not survive. Continuing onward, they confront Slade, but Raven is hurt by a laser blast and Slade gets away with the Sword of MacLeod. Beckett's only concern is to get help for Raven and then head back to Alba and forget these past days. Their landing on Alba is far from perfect, but Raven convinces herself that she can protect herself from Beckett's advances for the two weeks it will take for a merchant ship to arrive. There is one obvious question -- can Alba protect itself from the technology that Raven represents? Raven's attempts to resist Beckett are futile, but her fear of eventual rejection was learned at a young age. Beckett is not looking for a mother for Ciorstan, but a companion and lover with which to share his future.
