He is a pioneer and expert in object-oriented software engineering. DOUGLAS C. SCHMIDT, PhD, is a professor of computer science at Washington University and consults for Lucent Technologies. He is a pioneer in the field of telecommunications patterns and frameworks. RALPH E.
